Computing at Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School

At Hatfield Peverel Infant & Nursery School, our intent is to provide a computing curriculum that helps our youngest learners become confident, curious and safe users of technology. We introduce digital skills in a way that is playful, practical and accessible for all KS1 children. We aim for our pupils to become digitally literate, learning how to use computers, tablets and simple software to explore ideas, create content and communicate with others. They will develop early digital resilience, understanding how to make safe choices online and knowing what to do if something worries them.

Please refer to the Computing progression map below to find out how we teach Computing in our school and the impact.

My name is Mrs Ashley and I am the Subject Lead for Computing. I am passionate about helping children develop the digital skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing technological world. I enjoy exploring new technologies and sharing exciting opportunities for learning through computing, from programming and problem-solving to digital creativity and online safety.
Having studied Computing during my GCSE’s, I enjoy bringing creativity, collaboration and innovation into my teaching. I strive to inspire children to become confident digital learners who can think critically, solve problems effectively and use technology creatively to express their ideas and bring their imaginations to life.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching Computing is seeing children grow in confidence as they develop new skills and realise the possibilities that technology can offer. I am committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to become a responsible, capable and enthusiastic user of technology, equipped for the digital world both now and in the future.
