Art and Design at Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School
Reception, Year One and Two children worked on a whole school piece of art with Mrs Fairbairn. The children listened to the music ‘Winter’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and enjoyed drawing pictures of things that reminded them of Winter, including igloos, snowmen, snowflakes, penguins and Christmas presents! The children enjoyed working collaboratively on a whole school project.
Year One children painted ‘Circle trees’ in the style of Clarice Cliff. They used primary colours and secondary colours to make bold circle designs.
At Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School, we aim to inspire children and develop their confidence to experiment and invent their own works of art using different mediums and processes. We give children every opportunity to develop their own ability, nurture their talent and interests, express their ideas and thoughts about the world, as well as to learn about art and artists across cultures and through history.
Please refer to the Art and Design progression map below to find out how we teach Art and Design in our school and the impact.
My name is Mrs Fairbairn and I am the subject leader for Art in our school. I have always loved painting, drawing and creating things. My favourite thing is collage work and as part of my teaching degree, I specialised in art by making, designing and decorating paper. I even sold a few pieces at an art gallery! I love seeing all the wonderful art work that children can create with their ideas and imagination. They often surprise me! If I was not a Headteacher, my dream job would be a window dresser!
