History at Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School
Year One and Two children took part in a workshop all about the importance of Black History Month. They took part in role play opportunities to better understand segregation and how significant people such as Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks contributed to making important changes in history.
Year One children have enjoyed learning about the Royal Family and the early life of Queen Elizabeth II.
At Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School, our history curriculum is designed to ensure that children begin to develop a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We aim to inspire curiosity about history, encouraging children to ask questions and explore the past with enthusiasm. Our curriculum helps children appreciate the diversity of people’s lives across time and understand the processes of change and continuity. Additionally, we support children in making meaningful connections to their own personal history and the changes they have experienced within their own lifetime.
