Computing at Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School
In computing, children explored ‘2Createastory’ on Purple Mash. They started by looking at differences between e-books and the physical paper books. They have learned how to draw images and animate them, how to add pages and sound effects as well as voice-recordings and text to their stories. They then shared their stories with each other.
In computing the children began to explore algorithms. They took on the role of a computer and programmer to give and follow instructions to build something out of Lego. The children learnt the importance of clear and accurate instructions so the computer can achieve the right outcome.
At Hatfield Peverel Infant & Nursery School, our intent is to provide a computing curriculum that helps our youngest learners become confident, curious and safe users of technology. We introduce digital skills in a way that is playful, practical and accessible for all KS1 children. We aim for our pupils to become digitally literate, learning how to use computers, tablets and simple software to explore ideas, create content and communicate with others. They will develop early digital resilience, understanding how to make safe choices online and knowing what to do if something worries them.
