Religion and Worldviews at Hatfield Peverel Infant and Nursery School

 

We see Reverend Howard regularly throughout the year. We visit St. Andrew’s Church at various times throughout the year and he visits us and takes assemblies. He has also enjoyed seeing our Year Two Leaver’s Assembly.

Year One children composed a Creation story inspired by scripture. They produced some lovely written work.

As part of our Harvest celebrations, we collected food for the Braintree and Witham Food Bank and visited St. Andrew’s Church for a special Harvest service where we made lots of words out of Harvest, including earth, starve, share, and heart.

We aim to develop positive attitudes of respect towards other people who hold views and beliefs different from our own and embrace a society of diverse religions and beliefs. Our curriculum will support Christian values as well as knowledge of other religions and worldviews.

My name is Mrs Thomaidou, and I am the Subject Lead for Religion and Worldviews (RW). I am passionate about helping children develop an understanding of different religions, beliefs and worldviews, while encouraging kindness, respect and curiosity about the diverse world we live in.
One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching RW is seeing the children’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm as they learn about different festivals, places of worship, special books and important traditions. They enjoy asking questions, sharing their own experiences and listening respectfully to the views of others. These opportunities help children to develop empathy, understanding and respect for people from all backgrounds.
