Free Play in the Park Sessions Return to Chelmsford This Summer
If you’re looking for free ways to keep the children entertained during the summer holidays, Chelmsford City Council’s Play in the Park programme is back with an exciting line-up of activities at parks and community venues across the district.
Running throughout the summer break, these free two-hour sessions are designed for children aged three to 11 and include everything from sports and crafts to inflatables, animal encounters and storytelling. Please click here for dates, times and locations.
Edward Bear at St. Andrew’s Church
We meet every Thursday 10am to 11.30am in the Church and the Church Hall. There are lots of activities to enjoy with your child such as puzzles, games, play-doh, colouring and toys for all ages.
On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of the month we share a special time in the Church by having a short service for the children, which they all love. We have stories, musical instruments and we celebrate anyone’s birthday. Then we go into the Church Hall for tea, coffee, juice and biscuits.
On the 2nd Sunday of the month, at 10.15am, there is a Family Service for us to enjoy.

Hatfield Peverel Village Hall
The Hall is host to a wide range of community events and clubs, including Table Tennis, Badminton, Wine Club, Flower club, and Coffee club. Kids Clubs include Karate, Dance, Moo Music, Toddler Time, Little City and many more. Each week, the ‘Every Members Club’ gather on a Wednesday afternoon (elderly members of the community) and each year, our school children visit at Christmas to sing a variety of Christmas songs to them and visit at other times of the year including VE day.
Bingo is on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month.
